{"reader_html":"<h1 class=\"chapter-heading\">Sirach<span class=\"chapter-label\">Chapter 34<\/span><\/h1>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"1\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,1,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">1<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The hopes of a man void of understanding are vain and false: and dreams lift up fools.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"2\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,2,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">2<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Whoso regardeth dreams is like him that catcheth at a shadow, and followeth after the wind.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"3\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,3,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">3<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The vision of dreams is the resemblance of one thing to another, even as the likeness of a face to a face.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"4\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,4,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">4<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Of an unclean thing what can be cleansed? and from that thing which is false what truth can come?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"5\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,5,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">5<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Divinations, and soothsayings, and dreams, are vain: and the heart fancieth, as a woman&#039;s heart in travail.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"6\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,6,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">6<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">If they be not sent from the most High in thy visitation, set not thy heart upon them.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"7\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,7,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">7<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For dreams have deceived many, and they have failed that put their trust in them.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"8\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,8,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">8<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The law shall be found perfect without lies: and wisdom is perfection to a faithful mouth.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"9\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,9,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">9<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A man that hath travelled knoweth many things; and he that hath much experience will declare wisdom.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"10\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,10,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">10<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that hath no experience knoweth little: but he that hath travelled is full of prudence.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"11\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,11,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">11<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">When I travelled, I saw many things; and I understand more than I can express.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"12\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,12,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">12<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">I was ofttimes in danger of death: yet I was delivered because of these things.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"13\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,13,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">13<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The spirit of those that fear the Lord shall live; for their hope is in him that saveth them.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"14\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,14,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">14<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Whoso feareth the Lord shall not fear nor be afraid; for he is his hope.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"15\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,15,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">15<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Blessed is the soul of him that feareth the Lord: to whom doth he look? and who is his strength?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"16\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,16,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">16<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For the eyes of the Lord are upon them that love him, he is their mighty protection and strong stay, a defence from heat, and a cover from the sun at noon, a preservation from stumbling, and an help from falling.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"17\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,17,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">17<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He raiseth up the soul, and lighteneth the eyes: he giveth health, life, and blessing.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"18\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,18,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">18<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that sacrificeth of a thing wrongfully gotten, his offering is ridiculous; and the gifts of unjust men are not accepted.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"19\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,19,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">19<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The most High is not pleased with the offerings of the wicked; neither is he pacified for sin by the multitude of sacrifices.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"20\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,20,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">20<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Whoso bringeth an offering of the goods of the poor doeth as one that killeth the son before his father&#039;s eyes.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"21\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,21,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">21<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The bread of the needy is their life: he that defraudeth him thereof is a man of blood.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"22\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,22,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">22<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that taketh away his neighbour&#039;s living slayeth him; and he that defraudeth the labourer of his hire is a bloodshedder.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"23\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,23,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">23<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">When one buildeth, and another pulleth down, what profit have they then but labour?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"24\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,24,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">24<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">When one prayeth, and another curseth, whose voice will the Lord hear?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"25\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,25,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">25<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that washeth himself after the touching of a dead body, if he touch it again, what availeth his washing?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"26\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,26,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">26<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">So is it with a man that fasteth for his sins, and goeth again, and doeth the same: who will hear his prayer?
