{"reader_html":"<h1 class=\"chapter-heading\">Job<span class=\"chapter-label\">Chapter 34<\/span><\/h1>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"1\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,1,&quot;Job&quot;)\">1<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">After proclaiming these things, Eliu now had this to say:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"2\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,2,&quot;Job&quot;)\">2<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">May the wise hear my words, and may the educated listen to me.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"3\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,3,&quot;Job&quot;)\">3<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For the ear examines words, and the mouth discerns foods by the taste.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"4\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,4,&quot;Job&quot;)\">4<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Let us choose judgment for ourselves, and let us consider among ourselves what is best.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"5\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,5,&quot;Job&quot;)\">5<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For Job has said: “I am just, yet God has subverted my judgment.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"6\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,6,&quot;Job&quot;)\">6<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For, within my judgment, there is a lie: my vehement barbs are without any sin.”<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"7\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,7,&quot;Job&quot;)\">7<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">What man is there that is like Job, who drinks up derision as if it were water,<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"8\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,8,&quot;Job&quot;)\">8<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">who accompanies those who work iniquity, and who walks with impious men?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"9\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,9,&quot;Job&quot;)\">9<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For he has said, “Man will not please God, even if he should travel with him.”<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"10\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,10,&quot;Job&quot;)\">10<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Therefore, prudent men, hear me: impiety is far from God, and iniquity is far from the Almighty.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"11\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,11,&quot;Job&quot;)\">11<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For he will restore to man his works, and according to the ways of each, he will repay them.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"12\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,12,&quot;Job&quot;)\">12<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For truly, God will not condemn in vain, nor will the Almighty repudiate judgment.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"13\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,13,&quot;Job&quot;)\">13<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">What other is established over the earth? Or whom has he placed over the world, which he made?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"14\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,14,&quot;Job&quot;)\">14<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">But, if he directs his heart towards him, he will draw his spirit and breath to himself.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"15\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,15,&quot;Job&quot;)\">15<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">All flesh will fail together, and man will return to ashes.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"16\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,16,&quot;Job&quot;)\">16<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Therefore, if you have understanding, hear what is said, and heed the sound of my eloquence.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"17\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,17,&quot;Job&quot;)\">17<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Is he that does not love judgment able to be corrected? And how can you so greatly condemn him who is just?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"18\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,18,&quot;Job&quot;)\">18<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He says to the king, “You are an apostate.” He calls commanders impious.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"19\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,19,&quot;Job&quot;)\">19<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He does not accept the reputation of leaders; nor does he recognize the tyrant as he contends against the poor. For all are the work of his hands.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"20\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,20,&quot;Job&quot;)\">20<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">They will die suddenly, and the people will be troubled in the middle of the night, but they will pass through it, and the violent will be taken away without a hand.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"21\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,21,&quot;Job&quot;)\">21<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For his eyes are upon the ways of men, and he examines all of their steps.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"22\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,22,&quot;Job&quot;)\">22<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">There is no darkness and no shadow of death, where those who work iniquity may be hidden.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"23\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,23,&quot;Job&quot;)\">23<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For it is no longer within the power of man to enter into judgment with God.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"24\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,24,&quot;Job&quot;)\">24<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He will break into many innumerable pieces, and he will cause others to stand up in their place.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"25\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,25,&quot;Job&quot;)\">25<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For he knows their works, and, as a result, he will bring the night, and they will be crushed.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"26\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,26,&quot;Job&quot;)\">26<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Just as the impious do, he has struck them in a place where they can be seen.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"27\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,27,&quot;Job&quot;)\">27<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">They, as if with great diligence, have withdrawn from him, and they refused to understand all his ways,<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"28\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,28,&quot;Job&quot;)\">28<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">so that they caused the outcry of the needy to reach him, and he heard the voice of the poor.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"29\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,29,&quot;Job&quot;)\">29<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For, when he grants peace, who is there that can condemn? When he hides his face, who is there that can contemplate him, either among the nations, or among all men?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"30\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,30,&quot;Job&quot;)\">30<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He causes a hypocritical man to reign because of the sins of the people.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"31\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,31,&quot;Job&quot;)\">31<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Therefore, since I have been speaking about God, I will not prevent you from doing the same.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"32\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,32,&quot;Job&quot;)\">32<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">If I have erred, you may teach me; if I have spoken unfairly, I will add no more.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"33\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,34,33,&quot;Job&quot;)\">33<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Does God require this of you because it is displeasing to you? For you were the first to speak, and not I.
