And whoever hurries with his feet will stumble.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"3\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,3,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">3<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The foolishness of a man undermines his steps. And then he seethes in his soul against God.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"4\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,4,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">4<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Riches adds many friends. But from the pauper, even those whom he had become separated.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"5\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,5,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">5<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A false witness shall not go unpunished. And whoever speaks lies will not escape.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"6\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,6,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">6<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Many honor the character of one who is powerful, and there are friends for a giver of gifts.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"7\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,7,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">7<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The brothers of the poor man hate him. Moreover, even his friends have withdrawn far from him. Whoever pursues only words shall have nothing.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"8\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,8,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">8<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">But whoever possesses reason loves his own soul. And one who guards prudence shall discover good things.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"9\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,9,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">9<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A false witness shall not go unpunished. And whoever speaks lies will perish.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"10\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,10,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">10<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Fine things are not fitting for the foolish, nor is it fitting for a servant to rule over princes.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"11\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,11,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">11<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The doctrine of a man is known through patience. And his glory is to pass beyond iniquities.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"12\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,12,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">12<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Like the roaring of a lion, so also is the wrath of a king. And his cheerfulness is like the dew upon the grass.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"13\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,13,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">13<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A foolish son is the grief of his father. And an argumentative wife is like a roof that is continually leaking.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"14\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,14,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">14<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A house and its riches are given by parents. But a prudent wife is particularly from the Lord.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"15\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,15,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">15<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Laziness sends one into a deep sleep, and a dissolute soul will go hungry.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"16\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,16,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">16<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Whoever guards a commandment guards his own soul. But whoever neglects his own way will die.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"17\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,17,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">17<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Whoever is merciful to the poor lends to the Lord. And he will repay him for his efforts.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"18\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,18,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">18<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Teach your son; do not despair. But do not set your soul toward putting him to death.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"19\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,19,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">19<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Whoever is impatient will sustain damage. And when it has been taken away, he will set up another.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"20\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,20,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">20<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Listen to counsel and take up discipline, so that you may be wise in your latter days.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"21\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,21,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">21<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">There are many intentions in the heart of a man. But the will of the Lord shall stand firm.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"22\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,22,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">22<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">An indigent man is merciful. And a pauper is better than a deceitful man.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"23\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,23,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">23<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The fear of the Lord is unto life. And he shall linger in plentitude, without being visited by disaster.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"24\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,24,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">24<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The lazy conceals his hand under his arm, and he will not so much as bring it to his mouth.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"25\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,25,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">25<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">When the pestilent are scourged, the foolish will become wiser. But if you chastise the wise, he will understand discipline.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"26\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,26,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">26<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Whoever afflicts his father and flees from his mother is disreputable and unhappy.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"27\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,27,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">27<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Son, do not cease listening to doctrine, and do not be ignorant of the sermons of knowledge.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"28\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,28,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">28<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">An unjust witness ridicules judgment. And the mouth of the impious devours iniquity.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"29\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,19,29,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">29<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Judgments are prepared for those who ridicule.
