{"reader_html":"<h1 class=\"chapter-heading\">Job<span class=\"chapter-label\">Chapter 20<\/span><\/h1>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"1\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,1,&quot;Job&quot;)\">1<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Then Sophar the Naamathite answered, and said:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"2\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,2,&quot;Job&quot;)\">2<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Therefore various thoughts succeed one another in me, and my mind is hurried away to different things.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"3\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,3,&quot;Job&quot;)\">3<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The doctrine with which thou reprovest me, I will hear, and the spirit of my understanding shall answer for me.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"4\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,4,&quot;Job&quot;)\">4<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">This I know from the beginning, since man was placed upon the earth,<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"5\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,5,&quot;Job&quot;)\">5<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">that the praise of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"6\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,6,&quot;Job&quot;)\">6<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">If his pride mount up even to heaven, and his head touch the clouds:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"7\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,7,&quot;Job&quot;)\">7<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">In the end he shall be destroyed like a dunghill, and they that has seen him shall say: Where is he?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"8\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,8,&quot;Job&quot;)\">8<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">As a dream that fleeth away he shall not be found, he shall pass as a vision of the night:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"9\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,9,&quot;Job&quot;)\">9<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The eyes that had seen him, shall see him no more, neither shall his place any more behold him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"10\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,10,&quot;Job&quot;)\">10<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">His children shall be oppressed with want, and his hands shall render him his sorrow.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"11\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,11,&quot;Job&quot;)\">11<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">His bones shall be filled with the vices of his youth, and they shall sleep with him in the dust.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"12\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,12,&quot;Job&quot;)\">12<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For when evil shall be sweet in his mouth, he will hide it under his tongue.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"13\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,13,&quot;Job&quot;)\">13<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He will spare it, and not leave it, and will hide it in his throat.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"14\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,14,&quot;Job&quot;)\">14<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">His bread in his belly shall be turned into the gall of asps within him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"15\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,15,&quot;Job&quot;)\">15<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The riches which he hath swallowed; he shall vomit up, and God shall draw them out of his belly.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"16\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,16,&quot;Job&quot;)\">16<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He shall suck the head of asps, and the viper&#039;s tongue shall kill him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"17\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,17,&quot;Job&quot;)\">17<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">(Let him not see the streams of the river, the brooks of honey and of butter.)<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"18\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,18,&quot;Job&quot;)\">18<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He shall be punished for all that he did, and yet shall not be consumed: according to the multitude of his devices so also shall he suffer.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"19\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,19,&quot;Job&quot;)\">19<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Because he broke in and stripped the poor: he hath violently taken away a house which he did not build.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"20\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,20,&quot;Job&quot;)\">20<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And yet his belly was not filled: and when he hath the things he coveted, he shall not be able to possess them.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"21\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,21,&quot;Job&quot;)\">21<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">There was nothing left of his meat, and therefore nothing shall continue of his goods:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"22\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,22,&quot;Job&quot;)\">22<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">When he shall be filled, he shall be straitened, he shall burn, and every sorrow shall fall upon him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"23\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,23,&quot;Job&quot;)\">23<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">May his belly be filled, that God may send forth the wrath of his indignation upon him, and rain down his war upon him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"24\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,24,&quot;Job&quot;)\">24<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He shall flee from weapons of iron, and shall fall upon a bow of brass.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"25\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,25,&quot;Job&quot;)\">25<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The sword is drawn out, and cometh forth from its scabbard, and glittereth in his bitterness: the terrible ones shall go and come upon him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"26\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,26,&quot;Job&quot;)\">26<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">All darkness is hid in his secret places: a fire that is not kindled shall devour him, he shall be afflicted when left in his tabernacle.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"27\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,27,&quot;Job&quot;)\">27<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, and the earth shall rise up against him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"28\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,28,&quot;Job&quot;)\">28<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The offspring of his house shall be exposed, he shall be pulled down in the day of God&#039;s wrath.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"29\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,18,20,29,&quot;Job&quot;)\">29<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the inheritance of his doings from the Lord.<\/span> <\/p>\n<div class=\"bottom-nav\"><a href=\"\/drb\/1\/18\/19\" class=\"nav-btn-lg nav-ajax\">&lsaquo;
