{"reader_html":"<h1 class=\"chapter-heading\">Proverbs<span class=\"chapter-label\">Chapter 22<\/span><\/h1>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"1\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,1,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">1<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A good name is better than great riches: and good favour is above silver and gold.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"2\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,2,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">2<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The rich and poor have met one another: the Lord is the maker of them both.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"3\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,3,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">3<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The prudent man saw the evil, and hid himself: the simple passed on, and suffered loss.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"4\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,4,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">4<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The fruit of humility is the fear of the Lord, riches and glory and life.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"5\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,5,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">5<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Arms and swords are in the way of the perverse: but he that keepeth his own soul departeth far from them.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"6\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,6,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">6<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">It is a proverb: A young man according to his way, even when he is old he will not depart from it.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"7\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,7,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">7<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The rich ruleth over the poor: and the borrower is servant to him that lendeth.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"8\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,8,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">8<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that soweth iniquity shall reap evils, and with the rod of his anger he shall be consumed.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"9\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,9,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">9<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that is inclined to mercy shall be blessed: for of his bread he hath given to the poor. He that maketh presents shall purchase victory and honour: but he carrieth away the souls of the receivers.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"10\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,10,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">10<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Cast out the scoffer, and contention shall go out with him, and quarrels and reproaches shall cease.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"11\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,11,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">11<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that loveth cleanness of heart, for the grace of his lips shall have the king for his friend.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"12\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,12,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">12<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge: and the words of the unjust are overthrown.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"13\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,13,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">13<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The slothful man saith: There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the midst of the streets.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"14\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,14,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">14<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The mouth of a strange woman is a deep pit: he whom the Lord is angry with, shall fall into it.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"15\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,15,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">15<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, and the rod of correction shall drive it away.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"16\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,16,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">16<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that oppresseth the poor, to in- crease his own riches, shall himself give to one that is richer, and shall be in need.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"17\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,17,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">17<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Incline thy ear, and hear the words of the wise: and apply thy heart to my doctrine :<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"18\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,18,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">18<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Which shall be beautiful for thee, if thou keep it in thy bowels, and it shall flow in thy lips:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"19\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,19,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">19<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">That thy trust may be in the Lord, wherefore I have also shewn it to thee this day.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"20\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,20,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">20<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Behold I have described it to thee three manner of ways, in thoughts and knowledge :<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"21\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,21,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">21<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">That I might shew thee the certainty, and the words of truth, to answer out of these to them that sent thee.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"22\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,22,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">22<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Do no violence to the poor, because he is poor: and do not oppress the needy in the gate:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"23\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,23,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">23<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Because the Lord will judge his cause, and will afflict them that have afflicted his soul.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"24\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,24,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">24<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Be not a friend to an angry man, and do not walk with a furious man:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"25\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,25,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">25<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Lest perhaps thou learn his ways, and take scandal to thy soul.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"26\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,26,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">26<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Be not with them that fasten down their hands, and that offer themselves sureties for debts:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"27\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,27,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">27<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For if thou have not wherewith to restore, what cause is there, that he should take the covering from thy bed?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"28\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,20,22,28,&quot;Proverbs&quot;)\">28<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Pass not beyond the ancient
