{"reader_html":"<h1 class=\"chapter-heading\">Luke<span class=\"chapter-label\">Chapter 19<\/span><\/h1>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"1\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,1,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">1<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">AND entering in, he walked through Jericho.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"2\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,2,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">2<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And behold, there was a man named Zacheus, who was the chief of the publicans, and he was rich.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"3\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,3,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">3<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And he sought to see Jesus who he was, and he could not for the crowd, because he was low of stature.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"4\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,4,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">4<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And running before, he climbed up into a sycamore tree, that he might see him; for he was to pass that way.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"5\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,5,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">5<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And when Jesus was come to the place, looking up, he saw him, and said to him: Zacheus, make haste and come down; for this day I must abide in thy house.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"6\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,6,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">6<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And he made haste and came down; and received him with joy.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"7\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,7,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">7<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And when all saw it, they murmured, saying, that he was gone to be a guest with a man that was a sinner.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"8\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,8,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">8<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">But Zacheus standing, said to the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have wronged any man of any thing, I restore him fourfold.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"9\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,9,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">9<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Jesus said to him: This day is salvation come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"10\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,10,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">10<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"11\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,11,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">11<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">As they were hearing these things, he added and spoke a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately be manifested.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"12\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,12,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">12<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He said therefore: A certain nobleman went into a far country, to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"13\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,13,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">13<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And calling his ten servants, he gave them ten pounds, and said to them: Trade till I come.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"14\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,14,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">14<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">But his citizens hated him: and they sent an embassage after him, saying: We will not have this man to reign over us.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"15\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,15,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">15<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And it came to pass, that he returned, having received the kingdom: and he commanded his servants to be called, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"16\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,16,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">16<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And the first came, saying: Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"17\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,17,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">17<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And he said to him: Well done, thou good servant, because thou hast been faithful in a little, thou shalt have power over ten cities.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"18\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,18,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">18<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And the second came, saying: Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"19\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,19,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">19<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And he said to him: Be thou also over five cities.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"20\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,20,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">20<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And another came, saying: Lord, behold here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin;<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"21\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,21,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">21<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up what thou didst not lay down, and thou reapest that which thou didst not sow.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"22\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,22,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">22<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He saith to him: Out of thy own mouth I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up what I laid not down, and reaping that which I did not sow:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"23\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,23,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">23<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And why then didst thou not give my money into the bank, that at my coming, I might have exacted it with usury?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"24\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,24,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">24<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And he said to them that stood by: Take the pound away from him, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"25\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,25,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">25<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And they said to him: Lord, he hath ten pounds.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"26\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,26,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">26<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">But I say to you, that to every one that hath shall be given, and he shall abound: and from him that hath not, even that which he hath, shall be taken from him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"27\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,27,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">27<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">But as for those my enemies, who would not have me reign over them, bring them hither, and kill them before me.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"28\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,28,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">28<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And having said these things, he went before, going up to Jerusalem.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"29\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,29,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">29<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethania, unto the mount called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples,<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"30\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,30,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">30<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Saying: Go into the town which is over against you, at your entering into which you shall find the colt of an ass tied, on which no man ever hath sitten: loose him, and bring him hither.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"31\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,31,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">31<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And if any man shall ask you: Why do you loose him? you shall say thus unto him: Because the Lord hath need of his service.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"32\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,32,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">32<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And they that were sent, went their way, and found the colt standing, as he had said unto them.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"33\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,33,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">33<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said to them: Why loose you the colt?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"34\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,34,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">34<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">But they said: Because the Lord hath need of him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"35\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,35,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">35<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And they brought him to Jesus. And casting their garments on the colt, they set Jesus thereon.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"36\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,36,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">36<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And as he went, they spread their clothes underneath in the way.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"37\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,37,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">37<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And when he was now coming near the descent of mount Olivet, the whole multitude of his disciples began with joy to praise God with a loud voice, for all the mighty works they had seen,<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"38\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,38,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">38<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Saying: Blessed be the king who cometh in the name of the Lord, peace in heaven, and glory on high!<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"39\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,39,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">39<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And some of the Pharisees, from amongst the multitude, said to him: Master, rebuke thy disciples.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"40\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,40,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">40<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">To whom he said: I say to you, that if these shall hold their peace, the stones will cry out.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"41\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,41,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">41<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And when he drew near, seeing the city, he wept over it, saying:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"42\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,42,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">42<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">If thou also hadst known, and that in this thy day, the things that are to thy peace; but now they are hidden from thy eyes.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"43\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,43,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">43<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For the days shall come upon thee, and thy enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and straiten thee on every side,<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"44\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,44,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">44<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And beat thee flat to the ground, and thy children who are in thee: and they shall not leave in thee a stone upon a stone: because thou hast not known the time of thy visitation.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"45\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,45,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">45<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And entering into the temple, he began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"46\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,46,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">46<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Saying to them: It is written: My house is the house of prayer. But you have made it a den of thieves.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"47\" onclick=\"loadParallel(2,3,19,47,&quot;Luke&quot;)\">47<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And he was teaching daily in the temple.
