And have no fellow- ship with one that is richer than thyself.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"3\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,3,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">3<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">What agreement shall the earthen pot have with the kettle? for if they knock one against the other, it shall be broken.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"4\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,4,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">4<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The rich man hath done wrong, and yet he will fume: but the poor is wronged and must hold his peace.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"5\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,5,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">5<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">If thou give, he will make use of thee: and if thou have nothing, he will forsake thee.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"6\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,6,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">6<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">If thou have any thing, he will live with thee, and will make thee bare, and he will not be sorry for thee.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"7\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,7,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">7<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">If he have need of thee he will deceive thee, and smiling upon thee will put thee in hope; he will speak thee fair, and will say: What wantest thou?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"8\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,8,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">8<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And he will shame thee by his meats, till he have drawn thee dry twice or thrice, and at last he will laugh at thee: and afterward when he seeth thee, he will forsake thee, and shake his head at thee.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"9\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,9,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">9<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Humble thyself to God, and wait for his hands.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"10\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,10,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">10<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Beware that thou be not deceived Into folly, and be humbled.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"11\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,11,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">11<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Be not lowly in thy wisdom, lest being humbled thou be deceived into folly.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"12\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,12,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">12<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">If thou be invited by one that is mightier, withdraw thyself: for so he will invite thee the more.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"13\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,13,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">13<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Be not troublesome to him, lest thou be put back: and keep not far from him, lest thou be forgotten.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"14\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,14,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">14<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Affect not to speak with him as an equal: and believe not his many words: for by much talk he will sift thee, and smiling will examine thee concerning thy secrets.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"15\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,15,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">15<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">His cruel mind will lay up thy words: and he will not spare to do thee hurt, and to cast thee into prison.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"16\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,16,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">16<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Take heed to thyself, and attend diligently to what thou hearest: for thou walkest in danger of thy ruin.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"17\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,17,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">17<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">When thou hearest those things, see as it were in sleep, and thou shalt awake.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"18\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,18,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">18<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Love God all thy life, and call upon him for thy salvation.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"19\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,19,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">19<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Every beast loveth its like: so also every man him that is nearest to himself.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"20\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,20,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">20<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">All flesh shall consort with the like to itself, and every man shall associate himself to his like.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"21\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,21,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">21<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">If the wolf shall at any time have fellowship with the lamb, so the sinner with the just.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"22\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,22,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">22<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">What fellowship hath a holy man with a dog, or what part hath the rich with the poor?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"23\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,23,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">23<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The wild ass is the lion&#039;s prey in the desert: so also the poor are devoured by the rich.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"24\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,24,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">24<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And as humility is an abomination to the proud: so also the rich man abhorreth the poor.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"25\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,25,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">25<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">When a rich man is shaken, he is kept up by his friends: but when a poor man is fallen down, he is thrust away even by his acquaintance.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"26\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,26,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">26<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">When a rich man hath been deceived, he hath many helpers: he hath spoken proud things, and they have justified him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"27\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,27,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">27<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The poor man was deceived, and he is rebuked also: he hath spoken wisely, and could have no place.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"28\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,28,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">28<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The rich man spoke, and all held their peace, and what he said they extol even to the clouds.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"29\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,29,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">29<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The poor man spoke, and they say: Who is this? and if he stumble, they will overthrow him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"30\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,30,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">30<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Riches are good to him that hath no sin in his conscience: and poverty is very wicked in the mouth of the ungodly.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"31\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,31,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">31<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The heart of a man changeth his countenance, either for good, or for evil.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"32\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,13,32,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">32<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The token of a good heart, and a good countenance thou
