onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,1,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">1<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">HAPPY is the husband of a good wife: for the number of his years is double.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"2\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,2,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">2<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A virtuous woman rejoiceth her husband: and shall fulfil the years of his life in peace.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"3\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,3,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">3<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A good wife is a good portion, she shall be given in the portion of them that fear God, to a man for his good deeds.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"4\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,4,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">4<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Rich or poor, if his heart is good, his countenance shall be cheerful at all times.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"5\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,5,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">5<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Of three things my heart hath been afraid, and at the fourth my face hath trembled:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"6\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,6,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">6<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The accusation of a city, and the gathering together of the people:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"7\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,7,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">7<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And a false calumny, all are more grievous than death.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"8\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,8,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">8<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A jealous woman is the grief and mourning of the heart.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"9\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,9,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">9<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">With a jealous woman is a scourge of the tongue which communicateth with all.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"10\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,10,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">10<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">As a yoke of oxen that is moved to and fro, so also is a wicked woman: he that hath hold of her, is as he that taketh hold of a scorpion.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"11\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,11,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">11<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A drunken woman is a great wrath: and her reproach and shame shall not be hid.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"12\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,12,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">12<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The fornication of a woman shall be known by the haughtiness of her eyes, and by her eyelids.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"13\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,13,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">13<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">On a daughter that turneth not away herself, set a strict watch: lest finding an opportunity she abuse herself.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"14\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,14,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">14<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Take heed of the impudence of her eyes, and wonder not if she slight thee.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"15\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,15,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">15<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">She will open her mouth as a thirsty traveller to the fountain, and will drink of every water near her, and will sit down by every hedge, and open her quiver against every arrow, until she fail.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"16\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,16,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">16<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The grace of a diligent woman shall delight her husband, and shall fat his bones.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"17\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,17,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">17<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Her discipline is the gift of God.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"18\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,18,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">18<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Such is a wise and silent woman, and there is nothing so much worth as a well instructed soul.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"19\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,19,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">19<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A holy and shamefaced woman is grace upon grace.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"20\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,20,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">20<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And no price is worthy of a continent soul.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"21\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,21,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">21<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">As the sun when it riseth to the world in the high places of God, so is the beauty of a good wife for the ornament of her house.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"22\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,22,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">22<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">As the lamp shining upon the holy candlestick, so is the beauty of the face in a ripe age.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"23\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,23,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">23<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">As golden pillars upon bases of silver, so are the firm feet upon the soles of a steady woman.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"24\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,24,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">24<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">As everlasting foundations upon a solid rock, so the commandments of God In the heart of a holy woman.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"25\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,25,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">25<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">At two things my heart is grieved, and the third bringeth anger upon me:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"26\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,26,26,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">26<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A man of was fainting through poverty: and a man of sense despised:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup
