{"reader_html":"<h1 class=\"chapter-heading\">Ecclesiasticus<span class=\"chapter-label\">Chapter 34<\/span><\/h1>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"1\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,1,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">1<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">THE hopes of a man that is void of understanding are vain and deceitful: and dreams lift up fools.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"2\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,2,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">2<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The man that giveth heed to lying visions, is like to him that catcheth at a shadow, and followeth after the wind.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"3\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,3,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">3<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The vision of dreams is the resemblance of one thing to another: as when a man&#039;s likeness is before the face of a man.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"4\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,4,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">4<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">What can be made clean by the unclean? and what truth can come from that which is false?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"5\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,5,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">5<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Deceitful divinations and lying omens and the dreams of evildoers, are vanity:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"6\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,6,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">6<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And the heart fancieth as that of a woman in travail: except it be a vision sent forth from the most High, set no thy heart upon them.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"7\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,7,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">7<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For dreams have deceived many, and they have failed that put their trust in them.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"8\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,8,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">8<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The word of the law shall be fulfilled without a lie, and wisdom shall be made plain in the mouth of the faithful.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"9\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,9,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">9<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">What doth he know, that hath not been tried? A man that hath much experience, shall think of many things: and he that hath learned many things, shall shew forth understanding.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"10\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,10,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">10<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that hath no experience, knoweth little: and he that hath been experienced in many things, multiplieth prudence.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"11\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,11,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">11<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that hath not been tried, what manner of things doth he know? he that hath been surprised, shall abound with subtlety.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"12\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,12,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">12<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">I have seen many things by travelling, and many customs of things.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"13\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,13,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">13<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Sometimes I have been in danger of death for these things, and I have been delivered by the grace of God.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"14\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,14,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">14<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The spirit of those that fear God; is sought after, and by his regard shall be blessed.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"15\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,15,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">15<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For their hope is on him that saveth them, and the eyes of God are upon them that love him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"16\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,16,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">16<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that feareth the Lord shall tremble at nothing, and shall not be afraid for he is his hope.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"17\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,17,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">17<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The soul of him that feareth the Lord is blessed.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"18\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,18,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">18<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">To whom doth he look, and who in his strength?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"19\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,19,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">19<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The eyes of the Lord are upon them that fear him, he is their powerful protector, and strong stay, a defence from the heat, and a cover from the sun at noon,<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"20\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,20,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">20<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A preservation from stumbling, and a help from falling; he raiseth up the soul, and enlighteneth the eyes, and giveth health, and life, and blessing.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"21\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,21,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">21<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The offering of him that sacrificeth of a thing wrongfully gotten, is stained, and the mockeries of the unjust are not acceptable.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"22\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,22,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">22<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The Lord is only for them that wait upon him in the way of truth and justice.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"23\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,23,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">23<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The most High approveth not the gifts of the wicked: neither hath he respect to the oblations of the unjust, nor will he be pacified for sine by the multitude of their sacrifices.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"24\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,24,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">24<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that offereth sacrifice of the goods of the poor, is as one that sacrificeth the son in the presence of his father.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"25\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,25,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">25<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The bread of the needy, is the life of the poor: he that defraudeth them thereof, is a man of blood.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"26\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,26,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">26<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that taketh away the bread gotten by sweat, is like him that killeth his neighbour.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"27\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,27,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">27<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that sheddeth blood, and he that defraudeth the labourer of his hire, are brothers.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"28\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,28,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">28<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">When one buildeth up, and another pulleth down: what profit have they but the labour?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"29\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,29,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">29<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">When one prayeth, and another curseth: whose voice will God hear?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"30\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,30,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">30<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">He that washeth himself after touching the dead, if he toucheth him again, what doth his washing avail?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"31\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,34,31,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">31<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">So a man that fasteth for his sins, and doth the same again, what doth his humbling himself profit him? who will hear his prayer?<\/span> <\/p>\n<div class=\"bottom-nav\"><a href=\"\/drb\/3\/5\/33\" class=\"nav-btn-lg nav-ajax\">&lsaquo;
