{"reader_html":"<h1 class=\"chapter-heading\">Ecclesiasticus<span class=\"chapter-label\">Chapter 41<\/span><\/h1>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"1\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,1,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">1<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">O DEATH, how bitter is the remembrance of thee to a man that hath peace in his possessions!<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"2\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,2,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">2<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">To a man that is at rest, and whose ways are prosperous in all things, and that is yet able to take meat!<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"3\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,3,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">3<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">O death, thy sentence is welcome to the man that is in need, and to him whose strength faileth:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"4\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,4,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">4<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Who is in a decrepit age, and that is in care about all things, and to the distrustful that loseth patience!<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"5\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,5,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">5<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Fear not the sentence of death. Remember what things have been before thee, and what shall come after thee: this sentence is from the Lord upon all flesh.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"6\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,6,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">6<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And what shall come upon thee by the good pleasure of the most High? whether ten, or a hundred, or a thousand years.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"7\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,7,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">7<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For among the dead there is no accusing of life.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"8\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,8,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">8<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The children of sinners become children of abominations, and they that converse near the houses of the ungodly.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"9\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,9,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">9<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The inheritance of the children of sinners shall perish, and with their posterity shall be a perpetual reproach.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"10\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,10,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">10<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The children will complain of an ungodly father, because for his sake they are in reproach.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"11\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,11,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">11<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Woe to you, ungodly men, who have forsaken the law of the most high Lord.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"12\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,12,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">12<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And if you be born, you shall be born in malediction: and if you die, in malediction shall be your portion.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"13\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,13,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">13<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">All things that are of the earth, shall return into the earth: so the ungodly shall from malediction to destruction.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"14\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,14,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">14<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The mourning of men is about their body, but the name of the ungodly shall be blotted out.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"15\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,15,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">15<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Take care of a good name: for this shall continue with thee, more than a thousand treasures precious and great.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"16\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,16,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">16<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">A good life hath its number of days: but a good name shall continue for ever.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"17\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,17,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">17<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">My children, keep discipline in peace: for wisdom that is hid, and a treasure that is not seen, what profit is there in them both?<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"18\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,18,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">18<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Better is the man that hideth his folly, then the man that hideth his wisdom.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"19\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,19,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">19<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Wherefore have a shame of these things I am now going to speak of.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"20\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,20,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">20<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For it is not good to keep all shamefacedness: and all things do not please all men in opinion.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"21\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,21,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">21<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Be ashamed of fornication before father and mother: and of a lie before a governor and a man in power:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"22\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,22,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">22<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Of an offence before a prince, and a judge: of iniquity before a congregation and a people:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"23\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,23,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">23<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Of injustice before a companion and friend: and in regard to the place where thou dwellest,<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"24\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,24,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">24<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Of theft, and of the truth of God, and the covenant: of leaning with thy elbow over meat, and of deceit in giving and taking:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"25\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,25,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">25<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Of silence before them that salute thee: of looking upon a harlot: and of turning away thy face from thy kinsman.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"26\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,26,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">26<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Turn not sway thy face from thy neighbour, and of taking away a portion and not restoring.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"27\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,27,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">27<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Gaze not upon another man&#039;s wife, and be not inquisitive after his handmaid, and approach not her bed.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"28\" onclick=\"loadParallel(3,5,41,28,&quot;Sirach&quot;)\">28<\/sup><span
