{"reader_html":"<h1 class=\"chapter-heading\">The Book of the Prophet Isaiah<span class=\"chapter-label\">Chapter 3<\/span><\/h1>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><span class=\"dropcap-wrap\" data-v=\"1\"><span class=\"dropcap\" title=\"Compare verse 1 across translations\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,23,3,1,&quot;Isaiah&quot;)\">F<\/span>or, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"2\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,23,3,2,&quot;Isaiah&quot;)\">2<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"3\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,23,3,3,&quot;Isaiah&quot;)\">3<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"4\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,23,3,4,&quot;Isaiah&quot;)\">4<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"5\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,23,3,5,&quot;Isaiah&quot;)\">5<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"6\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,23,3,6,&quot;Isaiah&quot;)\">6<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"7\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,23,3,7,&quot;Isaiah&quot;)\">7<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"8\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,23,3,8,&quot;Isaiah&quot;)\">8<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"9\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,23,3,9,&quot;Isaiah&quot;)\">9<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"10\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,23,3,10,&quot;Isaiah&quot;)\">10<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"11\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,23,3,11,&quot;Isaiah&quot;)\">11<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p class=\"verse-para\"><sup class=\"vnum\" data-v=\"12\" onclick=\"loadParallel(1,23,3,12,&quot;Isaiah&quot;)\">12<\/sup><span class=\"vtext\">As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them.
